About the DNS Propagation Checker

Ask the same question of ten large public DNS resolvers run by different operators and see their answers side by side, so you can tell which ones have picked up your change and which still serve a cached value. These resolvers are anycast networks: each answer comes from the operator's node nearest to our server.

Frequently asked questions

How long does DNS propagation take?
Up to the record's previous TTL — commonly an hour, sometimes 24 or 48 hours if the TTL was set high. Lowering the TTL before a planned change makes the next one faster.
Why do some resolvers still show the old IP?
Those resolvers cached the previous answer and will keep serving it until that cache entry expires.
